URL, JabRef BibTex, Abstract
This paper explores the dynamics of inequalities in access to higher education in Bulgaria and shed more light on the place of residence as a social differentiating factor. Drawing on data from the Generations and Gender Survey (2004) this study demonstrates that despite the social privileges provided for youths of rural origin in the Communist regime, there was no substantial increase of their the chances to enroll in higher schools. As regards the period after 1989 we observed that the chances of people born in villages to access higher education institutions have not improved significantly.
