Vytenis Deimantas gave a guest lecture at the University of Groningen on the value and challenges of longitudinal surveys, with students engaging hands-on with the Generations and Gender Survey (GGS).

On September 17th, 2024, Vytenis Deimantas, Research Infrastructure Manager at the GGP, gave a guest lecture to Master’s students at the University of Groningen as part of the course “Demographic Data and Analysis.” His lecture, titled “Longitudinal Studies and Panel Surveys: How Do They Help Us Make Sense of the Changing World?”, explored the significance of longitudinal survey data, comparative data sources in Europe, and the methodological challenges faced by these surveys today.

The students also engaged in a practical exercise by filling in sections of the Generations and Gender Survey (GGS), offering their insights on the survey process and its potential to capture changing social patterns. The session provided students with valuable hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of how longitudinal data can inform demographic research.
