This new position will help us promote the use and understanding of cross-national survey data to a wide range of stakeholders, including how the GGP data is found, connected, and used.

The GGP Central Coordination Team is located at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) in The Hague and is responsible for the coordination, data processing, and scientific support of the programme.
What you will be doing:
As a Dissemination Officer, you will work at the intersection of survey data, research infrastructure, and emerging technologies. You will contribute to GGP’s role while supporting the communication and outreach activities of the GGP Central Hub.
You will:
- Support the visibility, accessibility, and effective use of GGP datasets, documentation, and related materials;
- Help ensure that GGP data is clearly communicated and correctly understood by diverse user communities;
- Update website content and publish news items to highlight project activities and results;
- Prepare and distribute newsletters and support social media communication (e.g. LinkedIn);
- Assist in the preparation of dissemination materials and maintain dissemination records and documentation;
- Support communication related to events, workshops, and project updates;
- Participate in project meetings;
- Contribute to the day-to-day communication and operational activities of the GGP Central Hub.

We offer a junior researcher position at the heart of an internationally connected research infrastructure. As part of the GGP Central Hub, you will contribute to work that directly shapes how survey data is found, interpreted, and used across disciplines and countries.
You will work at the intersection of social science data and emerging technologies – including AI and knowledge graphs – and gain hands-on experience in a collaborative European research project. The role offers exposure to a wide range of activities, from data documentation and quality assurance to user-facing pilots and dissemination.
The initial appointment will be until 31.12.2027. Any extension will be contingent on performance, availability of funds, and the human resource needs of the infrastructure. Dutch law stipulates a maximum of 4 years in total for a temporary research-based contract.
Requirements
What you will be contributing:
- A master in Sociology, Demography, or a related social science, or equivalent relevant experience;
- Experience with survey research, longitudinal data, or population studies;
- The ability to interpret research data and communicate it clearly to different audiences, including non-specialists;

Conditions of employment
Fixed-term contract: Eighteen months.
Terms of employment
Depending on education and experience the minimum salary is 3.546 and the maximum salary is 5.538 gross per month for a full-time appointment (scale 10 Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (CLA NU). This is exclusive of 8% vacation allowance, 8.3% year-end bonus, travel allowance, internet allowance, home working allowance and pension accrual with ABP.

As a GGP intern, you will contribute to two exciting EU projects: Infra4NextGen (I4NG) and SoGreen Project.
Infra4NextGen is a project funded by the European Commission, bringing together leading social science research infrastructures, including GGP, to support the NextGenerationEU Recovery and Resilience Plan and European youth policy. The project adapts cutting-edge research services around five key themes: Make it Strong - Make it Green - Make it Healthy - Make it Digital - Make it Equal.
SoGreen is a European research collaboration integrating the four leading longitudinal social science surveys including GGP to track how people across Europe experience and respond to climate change. - Conducting descriptive data analyses and preparing short, clear written summaries of analytical findings (Infra4NextGen);
- Supporting the organisation of workshops and webinars (Infra4NextGen).

What you will be doing
The Project
The Generations and Gender Programme is a cross-national research infrastructure for high-quality, open-access data about population and family dynamics. The main component is the Generation & Gender Survey (GGS) – a unique longitudinal data source on families and people’s life courses across different countries. Currently, new data is being collected in several European, Asian, and South-American countries.
The headquarter of the GGP is located at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) in the center of The Hague. It is responsible for the day-to-day management of the GGP, which includes implementing the governance of the GGP, providing support to national teams in collecting GGS data, and processing the collected data for release to the scientific community.
The Position
This position of GGP junior researcher is an entry-level position for those starting their (academic) career journey. The main tasks will be to assist with the daily operations of the GGP headquarter and work with the newly collected GGS data. This will include:
- Assisting with fieldwork preparations (e.g., coding and testing the survey questionnaire, helping monitor the fieldwork)
- Processing the newly collected survey data in Stata and R, and further developing procedures for checking the data quality;
- Developing products for facilitating and promoting the use of GGS data (e.g., creating user-friendly Stata syntax and variables);
- Demonstrating the use and impact of the data to various stakeholders;
- Support the work of the Central Hub as needed.
What you will be bringing

The French Institute for Demographic Studies (Ined) is hiring a full-time Research Officer for a 12-month contract starting September 1, 2025, to work on the Generations and Gender Programme (GGP). Descriptif de la structure
L’Institut national d’études démographiques (Ined) est un établissement public à caractère scientifique et technologique (EPST). Il a pour mission de mener des recherches sur les différentes problématiques démographiques (fécondité et famille, santé et mortalité, migrations…) et d’informer la communauté scientifique et le public des évolutions en cours. Fort de ses 11 unités de recherche, l’Ined est au cœur d’un réseau de partenariats nationaux et internationaux de recherche.
Description du service
Le service des enquêtes et sondages (SES) est un service d’appui à la recherche dont les missions centrales s’articulent autour des activités de collecte de données, quantitatives comme qualitatives transversales ou longitudinales. Il offre un soutien et des expertises aux équipes de recherche lors des différentes étapes d’une enquête (depuis la conception de questionnaires et des plans de sondages jusqu’à la mise en forme finale des fichiers de données). Le service assure une veille sur les protocoles et les techniques innovantes en matière d’enquêtes en sciences sociales.
Le service s’occupe également de la mise à disposition des données des enquêtes de l’Ined au sein de Quetelet PROGEDO et du développement de la base de données contextuelles de l’infrastructure internationale de recherche Generations and Gender Programme (GGP), inscrit sur la feuille de route ESFRI (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructure). Cette infrastructure fournit des données sur les familles et les trajectoires de vie des individus afin de permettre aux chercheurs d’apporter des informations et des réponses aux défis actuels de la société et des politiques publiques. L’Ined est un nœud de l’infrastructure GGP (ggp-i.org), auquel le poste est affecté.
Missions du poste
Le·la chargé·e d’études travaillera à la mise à disposition des enquêtes et de la base de données contextuelles du projet GGP. Ce travail est fait en collaboration avec l’Institut néerlandais pour la démographie (NIDI), qui coordonne GGP; des échanges en anglais ainsi que des déplacements à La Haye (Pays-Bas) sont à prévoir.
En ce qui concerne les enquêtes, le·la chargé·e d’études est chargé.e de la documentation des opérations de collecte (échantillonnage, mode de collecte, taux de réponses, etc.), dans chaque pays de GGP. Il·elle vérifie également la cohérence des jeux de données par rapport au questionnaire international GGP « de référence » et prépare les métadonnées selon la norme internationale DDI (Data Documentation Initiative). Ce travail est, en partie, automatisé à l’aide du logiciel R et Colectica.
En ce qui concerne la base de données contextuelle de GGP, qui regroupe des indicateurs sociodémographiques, économiques et politiques, le·la chargé·e d’études est chargé.e de la mise à jour des indicateurs à partir de grandes sources internationales et des instituts nationaux de statistiques. Il·elle s’occupe également de la documentation, préparation et mise en ligne des fichiers de données dans le logiciel de diffusion en ligne PxWeb. La personne recrutée aura pour mission d’étendre la couverture des indicateurs aux pays qui réalisent l’enquête mais ne sont pas encore inclus dans la base des données contextuelles, dont notamment Taiwan et d’autres pays en Asie. La base des données sera également enrichie avec de nouveaux indicateurs, notamment sur les politiques pour faire face à la pandémie et sur la reconnaissance légale des couples de même sexe.

- Bonne connaissance en démographie et sciences sociales, notamment dans la production de données d’enquête par sondage et de bases de données
