You have been invited to participate in a panel survey about family, work, and daily life. The survey is the Icelandic version of the international Generations and Gender Survey (GGS). The main goal of the survey is to gain a better understanding of family structures and dynamics, attitudes, childbearing, and other events across the lifespan. You are one of 18,000 individuals aged 18 to 79 who were randomly selected from the Icelandic national registry to complete the survey.
Your responses are an important contribution to new and pressing scientific research that will assist public authorities in policymaking and improve our understanding of changes in family and everyday life. Therefore, we kindly ask you to participate in the survey and share your opinions and various aspects of your life and family with us. It takes approximately 30-40 minutes to complete the survey. You can pause and resume later from where you left off by re-entering your response ID.
The Social Science Research Institute of the University of Iceland (Félagsvísindastofnun) is conducting the survey in collaboration with the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) and the Generations and Gender Programme (GGP), which oversee and coordinate this survey worldwide. GGP ensures the survey is conducted similarly everywhere it is implemented, allowing for comparisons between countries. Both the Social Science Research Institute and NIDI/GGP guarantee that the data you provide will be handled in accordance with Icelandic and European data protection laws (Act No. 2018/90 on Data Protection and Processing of Personal Data). The data will not be personally identifiable, and only authorized individuals conducting scientific research can be granted access to anonymized responses.
You are not obligated to participate in the survey, nor answer individual questions or any specific parts of the survey. If you prefer not to answer certain questions—some of which may concern sensitive issues—you may skip them by selecting the response option “Refuse”.
The survey is funded by the Icelandic Infrastructure Fund with co-financing from the University of Iceland.
