On May 8th, the Generations and Gender Programme in Austria joined forces with ESS and SHARE for the third Joint User Meeting in Vienna.
A day of rich, cross-cutting dialogue - spanning fertility intentions and reproductive autonomy, post-separation parenting, and how global crises are reshaping family decision-making across Europe.
The workshop brought together data users, researchers, and all those with an interest in Austria’s three largest social and health science research infrastructures. It was a space for networking, exchange, and collaborative reflection that sparked meaningful dialogue on ongoing research initiatives and the utilization of the European research infrastructures ESS, SHARE, and GGP.
Some highlights from the GGP-AT sessions:
🔹 How chronic illness shapes fertility intentions across Europe;
🔹 Women's autonomy regarding sexual relations, contraceptive use, and health care;
🔹 Parental separation and the consequences for children's living arrangements in Austria;
🔹 How recent global crises are reshaping when, and whether people plan to have children.
