On April 16 in Vilnius, the successful launch of the GGS in Lithuania was celebrated with an engaging conference focused on data-driven decisions for the future of fertility and families.
GGS LT brings together VDU V. Kavolio institutas / VMU V. Kavolis Institute, Lietuvos socialinių mokslų centras, State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) and Vyriausybės strateginės analizės centras (STRATA) to collect high quality, internationally comparable longitudinal survey data to better understand demographic change and individual behaviours in family formation.
The programme highlighted the Generations and Gender Programme (GGP) and the implementation of the Fertility and Family Survey in Lithuania. Experts from Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Poland shared how robust demographic data can help governments better understand family trends and design informed public policies.
Representing the GGP Central Coordination Team, Yuri Pettinicchi presented an overview of the programme, helping the audience place Lithuania’s developments within the wider international context.
A big thank you to the organisers for a thoughtful and well-executed event, and to all participants for the lively discussions and shared commitment to advancing demographic research.
